Minnesota Life: The Minnesota Tumblr List - Updated
So many tumblrs to [+follow]! Have a look at this great list put together by stuffaboutminneapolis:
Every so often I come out with a list of Minnesota “organizations” that have a presence on Tumblr. Many of these groups work at their Tumblr and keep posting updated information about themselves, while others get hot and heavy for a few months and then fizzle out maybe because the Summer intern who they put in charge of their Tumblr went back to school or something and it just kinda became forgotten. I am surprised more local bars/restaurants/rock clubs have not embraced Tumblr because it is a medium that is highly visual and pictures of things like food, concerts, or anything local really, do very well. Your company website may tell us a lot about you, but start a Tumblr to give us a “behind the scenes” look at who you are. The Tumblr community in the Twin Cities is very active and likes to exchange information.
If you are a local business, band, or media outfit pleasepleaseplease USE TAGS. I (or anyone else locally) can’t find you if your post only has tags relating to the picture or video or text you just posted like #cats #bacon #lol #lolbaconcats. That’s great if your restaurant has a dish on the menu called #lolbaconcats, but if it also isn’t tagged #minneapolis #minnesota #st.paul #twin cities #mpls, no one locally will find you except by dumb luck. When I get on Tumblr the first thing I check is the local tags I am following before anything else.
Alright, I broke down each organization into groups and I know you might be thinking “Well that one should go under Music, and that one isn’t really Media” and so on and so on. My answer to that? Whatever, make your own damn list. The only other issue I come up with, is that I usually forget to add somebody to this list or an organization has a Tumblr that I am not aware of. If that is the case, add it to the notes or email me.
